Getting Started
How does CarbZen work?
Point your camera at food and tap the scan button. AI identifies each item and estimates carbohydrate content using a combination of on-device machine learning and cloud-based analysis.
How accurate are the estimates?
Carb estimates are approximate and should not be used for medical dosing. They are enriched with USDA nutritional data when available. Always consult your healthcare provider for precise carb counting.
What iOS version is required?
CarbZen requires iOS 17.0 or later. It is designed for iPhone.
Where is my data stored?
All scan history is stored locally on your device. Photos sent for analysis are processed in-memory and immediately discarded — they are not stored on our servers.
Subscriptions & Billing
How many free scans do I get?
Free users get 3 scans per day with basic carb tracking. Upgrade to CarbZen Pro for unlimited scans, full macro breakdowns (protein, fat, fiber, sugar), daily carb goal tracking with a progress ring, weekly trends and averages, net carbs mode, and meal notes.
How does auto-renewal work?
CarbZen Pro subscriptions renew automatically through your Apple ID at the start of each billing period (monthly or yearly). You can cancel anytime in Settings → Subscriptions. If you cancel, you'll retain Pro access until the end of your current paid period.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open your device Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → CarbZen → Cancel Subscription. You must cancel at least 24 hours before the end of your current billing period to avoid being charged for the next period.
How do I restore my purchase?
Go to Settings → Subscription → Upgrade within the app, then tap "Restore Purchases" at the bottom of the screen.
Troubleshooting
The camera won't open
Go to Settings → CarbZen and make sure Camera access is enabled. If you don't see CarbZen in Settings, try deleting and reinstalling the app, then grant camera permission when prompted.
My scan seems inaccurate
For best results: use good lighting, photograph a single plate at a time, capture from directly above at a slight angle, and keep the food in focus. After scanning, you can tap the carb total to manually adjust it, or remove individual food items that were misidentified.
